Grant and Alexandra

Grant and Alexandra

Grant and Alexandra were married earlier this month, and Alexandra was such a beautiful bride.

The Wedding Ceremony took place in the lovely St Patrick’s Church at High Spen

Two days before and on the morning of the Wedding Day it rained none stop, but when Grant and Alexandra came out of church, it turned into the most beautiful day.

All the speeches were excellent, but the Best Man who is Grants older brother  had everyone in tears laughing, especially with the slideshow of photographs of Grant when he was a boy.

After Alexandra threw her bouquet, Grant and Alexandra stepped onto the dance floor for their first dance.

It really was such a pleasure to get to know Grant and Alexandra and to photograph their day.

Back to Kippford

With a free weekend we headed back to Kippford, with Puddle Duck  setting off to sail, Cocco  and I went in search of a beach to walk on, and there is plenty of  choice.

We drove around to Rockcliff, one of a small number of seaside villages along the north side of the Solway Firth known as the Colvend Coast, we  walked around the village and along to Castle Point then on the way back we sat on the beach and enjoyed lovely ice cream.

We then walked up the coastal path from Portling  heading towards Castle Point and on a sunny day you can see for miles, we met a few walkers who are always very cheery, and Cocco gets lots of attention which she adores.

We then went to Carsethorn where the beach was deserted apart from a few men digging for worms for fishing bait, which meant that Cocco and I had the whole run of the beach, great fun.

Then back to Kippford to see Puddle Duck on her mooring and the boys rowing back to shore

Maguire

Maguire   alais   Mr Magu

I bought Maguire twelve years ago to lead Venetia from her pony when she was five, and he was I hunted all over, from visiting local Hunts, to hedge hopping  with the Zetland, Warwickshire and Wynstay. When he injured a leg last year I decided to retire him with  Catherine for a quieter life  and I have enjoyed hearing of the fun days they have had.

Last week Wayne, Catherine’s husband asked me to to photograph Maguire for a surprise birthday present for her, it was great to see Magu again and looking so well.

As the horses come into work for the winter, I do miss having Maguire around at the Spital, causing his usual Mischief!

Three Men In A Boat

Three Men In A Boat

Three generations of Johnson men sailing on Puddle Duck, my son, husband and father in law.

Sailing and me are not a match made in heaven but I do enjoy photographing it, but from the shore only.  Our summer holiday took us to Kippford, three miles south a Dalbeattie for four days, so we could visit  places where my father in law now in his eighties spent his summer  holidays as a child. “Puddle Duck” was moored on the Urr Estary not far from the Mariners Hotel where we stayed.

Sailing back to Kippford, looks good fun, but still not tempted!

The “Shore Party” was made up of any one who did not want to go on a boat, so that was me, Cocco our Spaniel and Maisey my father in law’s Norfolk Terrier. I really did enjoyed our walks exploring the surrounding areas, and  we often came across lochs which Maisey and Coco loved bathing in.

Tynedale Pony Club O.D.E. at East Houses

Tynedale Pony Club O.D.E at East Houses Farm

The Annual Tynedale Pony Club One Day Event at East Houses Farm organised by Lesley Walby was once again a great success. It started off as a rainy morning,  then the sun came out, then  the  rain came back, then  sun came out  for most of the afternoon.

With dressage, show jumping and cross country there were  plenty of things to do which  kept  the competitors busy, and this year’s extended  cross country course  built by Hughie Robson added new challenges for the competitors.

.

Winning smiles from Joanna Harrison and her horse Agnes who won the Open, and a hug for Cathryn from “Aunty Pauline” who lets us jump our ponies over  her cross-country course at Kidlaw and was a member of the Tynedale Pony Club when she was a little girl.

Who’s holding the horse?, Yes, Dads, Mums and friends all help out on the day.

A big thank you to Caroline Mason our Dressage Judge for the day and all the  volunteers who jump judged and  helped to make the event possible. See you all next year.

Tynedale Games Team at the P.C. Championships

Tynedale Pony Club Games Team at the Pony Club Championships 2010

It started out with a group of mad keen Tynedale Pony Club Children, backed up by fantastic, supportive parents and with Fiona Nicholson as Team Trainer, who has inspired, encouraged, and trained the team. I think the idea of them even qualifying for the Championships when they started out was beyond their wildest dreams, but  all their hard work paid off at the Pony Club Championships at Draycott Mannor, when  the Tynedale Pony Club Junior Games Team became  the 12th Best  Pony Club Junior Games Team in the Country. From practicing all through the winter, to winning the Area Competition at Titlington, Qualifying for the Championships at the Zones in Newark  to competing at the Championships at Draycott Mannor, they have had an exciting journey and and just by watching them you could see that they have loved every minute of it.  A huge well done to the Team,  Delilah, Cathryn, Eve, Charlotte and Helouise, not forgetting  Casper and Xanthe who have also taken part.

Behind every good Team are  the  parents, friends and even grand parents who have come and supported them, and I think they had as much fun as the Team, but a very special well done goes to the Tynedale Pony Club Games Team Yummy Mummys,  Fiona, Helen, Laura, Lesley and Shirley for making it really good  fun for everyone and for putting so much effort into making the  whole thing  possible.

Tynedale Pony Club 25th Annual Show 2010

Tynedale Pony Club 25th Annual Show 2010

The Tynedale Pony Club 25th Annual Show ran by Jan Grant and her committee was a great success, with a good turnout of competitiors, a wide range of classes and sunshine! It was a real family day out and I think everyone really enjoyed themselves.  From Games, Show Jumping, Working Hunter Pony, to Tack and Tunout, there was plenty to choose from, but the highlight for me was the Horse and Hound, Pony and Dog Agility Class which was great fun to watch.

Two Tynedale Pony Club Members who had a very successful show, Delilah de Wesslow and Chris Grant.

Tynedale Pony Club Junior Camp

Junior Camp 2010

Junior Camp was  held over three days and I could only make it to the third day to take photographs, but the campers  have been very busy riding their ponies. On the last day some of the campers were taking very important  riding tests and taking part in the various competitions that the Instructors have organised for them.

 Stable Management

The children are taught Stable Management, which involves grooming, mucking out, and plaiting, so they can look after their ponies themselves. When the ponies are as clean as they can get them, the children then put on the saddles and bridles.

 Prize Giving

Prize giving took place in the Village Hall and some of the photos I have tuned into black and white or  sepia, the reason was that Pony Club seems timeless, it does not seem that long ago since, Pauline Robson was a member of the Tynedale Pony Club and went on to become  Northern Area Ladies Champion Point to Point  Jockey on numerous occasions, and now with David Parker they run a successful racing yard. Also  Corinna Waddell, Dickon Wood, Lesley Walby, Claire North Lewis and myself were all members of the Tynedale Pony Club, and now we have all brought our children back into Pony Club. We must have had lots of fun times!, although  I think alot more people were thrown into the water trough in my day!

Tynedale Pony Club Middle Camp Last Day

Last Day at Middle Camp

The four days at Middle Camp pass very quickly and all days as are fun packed, and very much enjoyed by campers and their ponies. The morning is spend getting ponies ready, plaiting,(or trying to!), grooming, tack cleaning, and then the riders have to get themselves ready, for the show jumping, dressage ,handy pony and games.

Everyone is welcome to watch the afternoon activities and mums and little sisters come in very handy helping to  carry out the camping equipment from the Village Hall, which has been a huge dorm for the campers. I think lots of fun, and plenty of midnight feasts  have been going on, by the amount of empty sweet papers!
